Copper: A Most Beloved Friend

Fondly known as “The Seniors”, Levi (l), Caspian (m), and Copper (r) are among our most cherished herd here at the ranch. These three boys have seen it all as they approach 30 years of age.

RESCUE IS HARD.

It is with a heavy heart that I am writing you this email today. It is one of the worst aspects of loving an animal, and something that many of us in rescue have seen far too often.

Our dear, beloved Copper has been a staple for many years here at Zuma’s. He is one of the best teachers of kindness and love and has always made us giggle with his enthusiasm and chatter around feeding time. Sadly, this sweet boy has been in heart failure for some time and his body is giving out. We have made the incredibly difficult decision to set him free of his failing body and send him over the Rainbow Bridge tomorrow, Tuesday July 12th.

We invite everyone to head on out to visit with Copper today/tonight and through tomorrow morning by 11am. The gates at Zuma’s will be open until 8pm tonight for anyone wishing to stop by and provide extra love, hugs, and unsweetened applesauce (which you’ll probably have to share with Levi).

We said goodbye to Caspian in March of this year. Levi will be in need of extra support as he mourns the loss of another friend so soon.

Please join us in sending love and light to Copper.

Sincerely,

The Staff & Herd at Zuma’s
